Safe Operations

Health, safety and environment (HSE) are at the core of everything Oriental Energy does. On 19 April 2023, Oriental Energy reached the important milestone of 6.3 million hours (2,000 days) without loss-time incidents, demonstrating the efficiency of our safety practices. As we celebrate over five years without any serious injury or incident, we have also committed to keep evaluating and improving our EHSS management systems to further build on that achievement.

Socio-Economic Development

Oriental Energy Resources is a proud corporate citizen of Nigeria and has been dedicated to the country’s socio-economic interventions since its establishment. Over 20,000 people from Akwa Ibom alone have benefitted from the company’s development programmes in the areas of community health, education and human capital development, enterprise support, and capacity building for sustainable development.

Decarbonisation

The company’s offshore operations adopt a flare reduction strategy that successfully enables cleaner production. Oriental Energy Resources is also currently developing a carbon reduction strategy to minimize carbon and methane emissions from existing facilities, implement a zero-flaring approach to new projects, and plan a carbon offset scheme with potential carbon credits benefits.

Environmental Preservation

Oriental Energy has demonstrated noticeable environmental stewardship since taking over the operatorship of the Ebok Field in 2007. In addition to reducing flaring, we have also been amongst the first Nigerian operators to drill a water disposal well offshore and have adopted a stringent waste management protocol to minimize our footprint and ensure that we recycle and re-use as much waste as possible.
